In 2013 new National Road Safety Programme 2013-2020 was developed, which aims to reduce the number of fatalities in 2020 by 50% and seriously injured by 40%, in relation to 2010.

History of road safety programmes in Poland

The history of road safety programmes in Poland dates back to 1972 when an attempt to introduce actions and measures aimed at the improvement of road safety situation in Poland was made. Based on the outcomes of World Bank report from 1992, National Road Safety Council was established. Since then, the following road safety improvements programmes have been developed: GAMBIT 96, GAMBIT 2000, GAMBIT 2005 and recently National Road Safety Programme 2013-2020.
